Pharmacological Function of ganoderma lucidum spore powder

1. Anticancer effect

Ganoderma lucidum spore powder can obviously inhibit the growth of transplanted animal tumor, mouse liver cancer, mouse sarcoma-180 S-180 and mouse reticulosarcoma L-II. The inhibition rates of S-180 and L-II were 52.2% – 86.1%, 44.9% – 82.0% and 54.0% – 79.6% respectively after 7 days of administration of S-180 and L-II, respectively. The ethanol extract of the two spores can directly inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro. The ethanol extract of the two spores at a concentration of 1 mg / ml had strong killing effect on human cervical cancer cell HeLa, human hepatoma cell HepG2, human gastric cancer cell SGC7901, human Bai Xubing cell HL60 and mouse leukemia cell L1210.

The effect of Ganoderma lucidum spore powder on T cell surface differentiation antigen, cytotoxicity in vitro and tumor inhibition rate of mice with HAC hepatoma showed that the total T cells and T helper cells were significantly increased. The killing activity of Ganoderma lucidum spore powder group was 27.3%, 23.4% and 20.0% respectively, and the total inhibitory rate of Ganoderma lucidum spore powder was 42.2%. These results indicate that Ganoderma lucidum spore powder can activate and enhance the anti-tumor effect of specific CTL and non-specific killer cells NK and LZK, and inhibit the proliferation of tumor cells.

2. Immunity

Ganoderma lucidum spore powder can activate the phagocytosis of macrophages, and has a rapid resistance to glucocorticoid. The water extract of Ganoderma lucidum spore powder can increase the activity of acid phosphatase and beta glucuronidase and the content of hydrogen peroxide in peritoneal macrophages of mice. Activation of Ganoderma lucidum spore powder can significantly promote the secretion of interleukin-2, interleukin-2 and IL-2 in spleen cells of mice, and significantly increase the transformation and increment rate of spleen lymphocytes in mice. It is suggested that the increase of lymphocyte transformation rate and IL-2 secretion induced by Ganoderma lucidum spore powder is one of its immunomodulatory functions.

In addition to thymus index, half hemolysis value, blood carbon clearance rate, plantar thickness difference and spleen index were significantly different between the two groups. The results showed that Ganoderma lucidum spore powder could improve the immune function of mice.

Protective effect of Ganoderma lucidum spore powder on liver damage induced by D-galactosamine: the experimental mice were administered by intragastric administration and intraperitoneal injection. The activity of ALT in liver function of mice in the single use group was significantly increased, and the cells showed balloon swelling and punctate necrosis, and the liver was seriously damaged. The death rate of the test mice was high, which was significantly different from that of the normal saline control group. Compared with the control group, the liver pathological examination of half of the mice tended to be normal. Although there were still differences in ALT activity between the control group and the control group, the ALT activity was significantly decreased compared with the control group (P < 0.05).

4. Hypolipidemic effect

Oral administration of Ganoderma lucidum spore powder has no significant effect on serum total cholesterol (TCHO) and triglyceride (TG) in normal rats, but can significantly reduce serum total cholesterol and triglyceride levels in hyperlipidemic rats. After taking Ganoderma lucidum spore powder 1.0 ~ 5.0 g / kg, TCHO and TG decreased by 43.9% ~ 56.1% and 36.5% ~ 52.5%, respectively. Its action strength is higher than that of clofibrate 500 mg / kg. Studies by Zhang Weimin from Nanjing and others have shown that: when the spore powder of Ganoderma lucidum is measured at a dosage of 500mg / kg, it can reduce serum TCHO and TG, but has no effect on serum high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) in rats.

5. hypoglycemic effect

The ethanol extract of Ganoderma lucidum spore powder has obvious preventive and therapeutic effect on diabetes induced by alloxan in mice. It is suggested that GLSE may reduce the damage of alloxan to beta cells or improve the function of injured beta cells.

GLSE can also antagonize the hyperglycemia induced by IP glucose and adrenaline in normal mice and improve glucose tolerance of diabetic mice. It is suggested that GLSE may inhibit glycogen decomposition. GLSE can reduce the amount of drinking water in diabetic mice. This effect may be beneficial to relieve the patient’s symptoms.

The hypoglycemic effect of GLSE (equivalent to 6.25 g / kg) on diabetic rats was observed. The results showed that GLSE (equivalent to 6.25 g / kg) could significantly reduce blood glucose and enhance glucose tolerance in diabetic rats. The increase of growth hormone (GH) and the decrease of cortisol (COR) after STZ injury had stable and protective effects, and could promote the secretion of INS in diabetic rats

When GLSE was injected into the mice, the survival time of mice was significantly prolonged under anaerobic condition, and there was a dose-response relationship.
