Antitumor Effects of Ganoderma Lucidum Extract Spore Oil

Ganoderma lucidum spore oil is a kind of effective lipid which is stored in Ganoderma lucidum spores. How much help can it prove to enhance immunity for cancer suppression?

In order to understand this problem, Xu Jianhua, Dean of the School of Pharmacy, Fujian Medical University, and scholars from the University of Arizona in the United States have done some research and published the results in Oncology Letters, a journal of oncology medicine in November 2016.

The effect of inhibiting cancer was proportional to the dosage of spore oil.

The researchers cultured different doses of Ganoderma lucidum spore oil together with human chronic myelogenous leukemia cell lines, human pre-myelogenous leukemia cell lines and human gastric cancer cell lines.

After 24 hours, Ganoderma lucidum spore oil inhibited all three kinds of cancer cells, and the effect was proportional to the dose.

Spore Oil Inhibits Tumor Growth

The above experiments were carried out in vitro. When Ganoderma lucidum spore oil entered the body, could it also play an inhibitory role? The answer seems to be yes.

Researchers first inoculated mice with sarcoma cell line (S180) or hepatoma cell line (H22), then fed Ganoderma lucidum spore oil for 10 days, and sacrificed the mice on the 12th day.

The results showed that Ganoderma lucidum spore oil reduced the weight of sarcoma and liver tumors by 30.9% and 44.9% respectively compared with untreated tumor mice (control group).

Spore oil has no negative effect on body weight

Compared with 5-60% of the tumor suppressive effect of chemotherapy drugs (5 FU), Ganoderma lucidum spore oil has a lower effect, but it has no negative effect on body weight as the chemotherapy drugs do.

The figure below shows that at the end of the experiment, the weight of mice in each group after deducting the weight of the tumor: the weight of Ganoderma lucidum spore oil group was close to or even the same as that of the control group; in contrast, the chemotherapy group was significantly worse than that of the control group.

Spore oil does not pull immune hind legs

In addition, the immune status of tumor mice was evaluated by “spleen index” and “thymus index”.

The spleen is the base of lymphocyte (including T cells, B cells, natural killer cells) and the thymus is the place where T cells mature. Therefore, we can judge the immune function from the level of spleen index and thymus index.

The following two pictures show the spleen index and thymus index of mice with sarcoma and hepatocellular carcinoma after 10 days of treatment with spore oil or chemotherapy. Compared with chemotherapeutics, spore oil can significantly reduce the immunity of mice with cancer, but it has no such problem, and even some promoting effects.

Anticancer mechanism of spore oil

The above results show that “specific source” of Ganoderma lucidum spore oil can not only inhibit the growth of tumors, but also maintain good weight and immunity. And it’s just the effect of eating for 10 days. If you can continue to eat for longer, I don’t know what the result will be.

As for why Ganoderma lucidum spore oil can inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells and slow down the growth of tumors? The research teams of Fujian Medical University and the University of Arizona in the United States also have further analysis.

This study indicates that spore oil can directly regulate a protein molecule called cyclin D1 in cancer cells, making its activity unable to play.

Because cyclin D1 is a cancer cell from one to two, two to four… One of the growing behind-the-scenes pushers, without its role, has to stop the proliferation of cancer cells.

The value of Ganoderma lucidum spore oil in adjuvant treatment of tumors has been scientifically confirmed. However, different spore oils use different raw materials and different manufacturing methods, and the final products will certainly not be the same.
